The Macon County Public Library and Books Unlimited of Franklin will host Sylva author Tom Baker in the Meeting Room of the library on Thursday, March 7 at 5:00 p.m. Baker’s novel, The Hawk and the Dove, develops over six war-time periods: the Viking era, the Peninsula War, the U.S. Civil War, World War II, Vietnam, and Rwanda. A historical fiction with threads of romanticism and mysticism, a hawk
and dove flow through these times influencing characters in their struggles.
Copies of the novel will be available for purchase and personalized autographs.

Tom Baker is a U.S. Army combat veteran from the Vietnam War. He was a grunt with the 101st Airborne Division, a parachute rigger, and spent most of 1968 and early 1969 as a door-gunner for the 1st of the 9th 1st Cav. He is President of the Jackson County Veterans Organization and a member of the Macon County
chapter of the Vietnam Veterans Association. Tom has been a forester and a
logger for over 40 years.
